MESSAGE FROM THE ACTING PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents, Carers, Students and Staff,
Soon students will receive their semester one school reports. School reports shouldn’t really be too full of surprises and they certainly are not designed to cause anxiety and stress. Students receive feedback on their progress throughout the semester and research clearly shows that this teacher feedback (to students) enhances learning. Parent communication and connection with the class teacher throughout the school year can also eliminate or reduce the likelihood of any surprises in their child’s report. Upon receiving a child’s report it is important firstly to praise your child for the learning they have displayed and the progress they have made. Secondly, it is just as important to make a plan with your child around how you can support them to achieve any challenges that the report has identified.
This Friday we will come together as a Catholic school to celebrate our special day – the feast of the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. On this Feast Day we recognise that Jesus Christ’s physical heart is the symbol for his divine love for humanity. Pope Francis, in his encyclical Fratelli Tutti, calls us to “open our own hearts to the world and to be a compassionate presence so that life might flourish in its fullness for Earth and its peoples”.
At this Mass, Anthony Munro, from Sydney Catholic Schools, will present us with a copy of “The Archbishop’s Charter for Catholic Schools”. The Charter assists schools to reflect on and revitalise their understanding of the mission of the Church, and how it is lived out in schools. The presentation of this charter recognises how well Sacred Heart Catholic School has achieved this goal.
With best wishes,
Steve Conlon
Acting Principal
MESSAGE FROM THE ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents and carers,
Semester One Reports
The teachers have been working extremely hard to draft and finalise Semester One Reports for our students.
The planned release date for the Semester One is Thursday 17th June. These have been timed so that they are available for the Parent-Student-Teacher Conferences beginning on Friday 18th June for some classes.

PLEASE NOTE: Please remember that we will only allow Zoom users with their full name and surname visible when entering the Zoom feed. Please resist the urge to use nicknames or initials as we are very conscious of protecting our students and community from external visitors.
Parent-Student-Teacher Conferences: Week 9 and Week 10
As we do each year, teachers are very much looking forward to meeting with you to discuss the progress, achievements and areas of growth for your children. We will offer parents one late evening on Monday, 21st June as well as other times throughout the week depending on the availability of your child’s teacher.
When will the interviews take place?
In addition to Monday 21st June, the other dates that may be available (depending on the class) are Friday 18th June, Wednesday 23rd June, Tuesday 22nd June and Thursday 24th. There will be no interviews on Wednesday 23rd June for some classes and families as many teachers and families will be attending the Dance Fever Interschool Challenge that evening.
How will the interviews take place?
We surveyed our parent community last week and it seemed the narrow preference would be for meetings via Zoom or telephone call. We assume that Zoom or telephone will be the default option for all interviews and more details about how to access the interviews will be communicated to all parents via the class teachers next week. If you wish to have an in-person interview, please inform your child’s teacher prior to Wednesday 16th June.
When will bookings for the interviews open?
Bookings for our Semester 1 interviews will open to all parents this Friday 11th June at 9.00am.
How can I book my interview?
As was done successfully in 2020, you can once again access the bookings system via Compass. Once you enter the booking system on Compass, you will be able to see the availability of your selected teacher. Be aware that you may not be able to see the option to ‘Book Parent Student Teacher Conference’ until Friday morning.
Finally, we would like to invite students to participate in Parent Teacher interviews this year. Of course, it is entirely up to parents to make that decision, but from a school perspective, the students are more than welcome to join the discussions.
Please contact our school office if you have questions or concerns.
Nick Brierley
Assistant Principal.
Please note that the next SHM P & F meeting has been changed from Tuesday 8th of June to Wednesday the 16th of June. 7.00pm in the school hall. All welcome to attend.

Fruit of the week - Grapes
This week I have been really getting into grapes! All colours really. The green ones, blue ones and the ones that are purple or red. Regardless, they are super delicious! Grapes have been a prominent fixture in many historical art works. It has been seen as the fruit of royalness and nobility. *Adjusts Tiara*
Moving on! Grapes come in different forms from the colours, seedless, jams, currents, sultanas and so on. Nutritionally, grapes are packed full of the good stuff that your body loves! Like Vitamin C and Vitamin K, B6, Thiamine, Copper, Riboflavin, Potassium and manganese! What on Earth is Manganese?! From what my sources have told me, grapes are really high in antioxidants. These are the things that fight off illness and disease in the body. Grapes are a great lunchbox snack and can fit anywhere! In your pocket, your friends pocket, your dog’s pocket and your dog’s friend’s pocket!
So what are you waiting for? Get into some grapes!
Staff/Teacher vs. Student Netball
A reminder that Sacred Heart will be hosting a Staff/Parent vs. Year 6 Netball Game on Thursday the 24th of June. This is the last teaching day of Term 2. Those who would like to be involved are to email Mr De-Villiers. He will be finalising Parent/Teacher numbers by the end of the week. Against our Year 6 students, we will need all the help and experience we can get!
The game will start at 2:00pm and will be made up of 4x10 minute quarters. Year 6 students will commentate and students in other grades will be spectating.
Sacred Heart Athletics Team
Positions are currently being finalised for the Sacred Heart Athletics Team. The team will be finalised by the end of week 9 and be published in week 10.
We have some items in the school office currently that have lost their homes. Please let us know if these belong to you.
