Closing remarks from Basketball Coach Mark
Basketball has officially finished at Sacred Heart and what a season it was! Twenty of our thirty teams finished in the top four spots and we had an overall winning percentage of 77%. Five teams went to the Grand Final and two finished as Champions. Congratulations to both the Year 5 Boys A Wizards and Year 5 Girls A Jaguarz.
It wasn’t all about winning as our kids showed amazing resilience in so many hard fought games and a brilliant sense of sportsmanship, teamwork and fair play the entire season. The shining spirit and character of the players was always on display. It was a real pleasure to meet and get to know so many of our talented players.
I believe we’re developing a great culture at basketball with hard work, discipline and a love for the game at Sacred Heart. We saw the greatest number of kids play this past season than ever before and my hope is that the program grows even bigger.
A special thanks to our coordinators Katie, Annie and Irenie who do a tireless job each week along with the many team coaches and managers. I’d also like to thank the club President Chris for his remarkable support throughout the season and the parents who make the effort each week to get the kids to the games and cheer on our teams.
Finally to the players themselves, I’m so proud of the way you have all carried yourselves each and every game, the efforts were outstanding. As Michael Jordan once said, “Obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it or work around it.”
Well done teams!
Coach Mark
