Principal's Letter

12th April 2019

Dear Parents and Carers

It has been a long, eleven week term, a busy but exciting one. We are all due a well deserved and much needed break. I wish you all a lovely holiday and a happy Easter. The students return to school on Tuesday the 30th April.

Thank you to Liam Jowett and the staff at after school care for taking on the challenge of vacation care at Sacred Heart for the first time this holidays. Liam has designed a very interesting, kid friendly program for the holidays. Liam is also offering vacation care for our staff development day on Monday 29th April. Please refer to the SCECS tab in newsletter as it contains the vacation care plan for each day.

This week the teachers and Mr Brierley have presented the Easter Story through prayer, song and actions. The children’s reverent participation was evident in the way they listened sang and presented each stage of Jesus’ journey to Calvary. As we celebrate Easter this year let us thank God for what we have especially in terms of family, friends and faith.

This week a group of our senior leaders, Mrs Lozina and I attended mass at St Mary’s Cathedral to farewell the Executive Director of Schools Dr Dan White. Dr Dan has led Sydney Catholic Schools for the last 10 years. He was very humble regarding his accomplishments and his leadership of 152 Catholic Schools catering for 85 000 students. Mr Tony Farley will take up leadership of Sydney Catholic Schools next term. His most recent role has been as Executive a director of the Catholic Commission for employment relations

Thank you to the Kinder, Year 1 and Year 2 parents who came to the Dancefever Showcase this week. I’m sure you can see why the children love their dance lessons so much. Next term the senior children will have coding with Scope IT and The younger grades will participate in Term 3.  All classes have also been booked in for Fizzics visits (making science fun!) next term. Term 4 will continue to be our gymnastics term. Please refer to the Term 2 Timetable tab in this newsletter as it contains your child's classroom timetable Monday to Friday.

Uniform

At the beginning of Tem 2 children are able to move into their winter uniform. Usually we have a two week grace period with the option to wear either winter or summer uniform depending on the weather. Due to our uniform supplier changeover that period of grace, of course, will be extended.  Please refer to the email "Uniform Supply & Suppliers" sent yesterday for further details.

Have a well deserved break from the routine of school.

Regards

Julie Caldwell
