Reflections from the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary- August 15th
“Today is a great celebration because the Church helps us to look to Mary as a sign of hope.”
Mary’s Assumption celebrates when Mary joined her Son in Heaven, body and soul. The Assumption of Mary is a sign of Hope to us all. As we celebrate and meditate on this Mystery, Mary’s victory reminds us all to continue to persevere in our journey to eternal life. Mary’s victory is our victory. Christ gave Mary the gift first and it is a sign for us all to look to our faith.

Father Noel wore a white Chasuble (vestment) because white is the colour worn for Marian Feast Days (Feast Days of Mary). The Chasuble had a blue stole and a blue symbol on the back called the “Auspice Maria” which is Latin. It is the letter A and M intertwined and it means “Under the protection of Mary.” Blue is the colour for Mary and is a sign of Purity and Royalty.
Reflection for the our students
Mary is joyful because she knows that God does great things. What does Mary praise God for?
We have many things to praise God for. Think about what you would like to praise God for.
Make a prayer of thanks and pray to God, just like Mary did. You might like to share this prayer with your family.
Thank you to Father Phil, Father Henry and Father Noel for continuing to give us the opportunity to partake in the Eucharistic celebration online and to receive the Eucharist with you spiritually, as we cannot receive it sacramentally during this time.
Coming up in our Liturgical Calendar - Father’s Day Prayer on Friday, 3rd September at the morning assembly via Zoom, all families are invited to join us.
