WELLBEING
The Fruit of the Week - Pears!
This week I have been really getting into Pears! To me, they are the underrated fruit in the garden. They can make a salad really pop! Some would say, they are good in pairs! *Queue knee slap here* The Pyrus communis, the latin word for pear, is a popular and globally consumed fruit. The pear fruit was originally seen to be cultivated and consumed in China as early as 2000 BC! Pears grow similar to apples. They grow on trees and when they ripen they fall to the ground. Pears are highly nutritious fruits and contain a number of health benefit goodies. Such as Fibre, Vitamin C and K, potassium and Copper. Pears are also super good for your gut health! And you know what they say, a healthy gut is a healthy body! Well...they don’t really say it but they should! So next time you make a salad, try adding a pear to it. Apparently they pair perfectly with other things.
