Principal's Letter
5th April 2019
Dear Parents and Carers
Last week’s gospel tells the parable of the Prodigal Son. It is a story that can connect with so many facets of our lives. When we are estranged from family and friends or when we move away from our faith. Like the prodigal son there are times when our faith is not as strong as it could be and we stray away from God. Like the father in the story God is always there to welcome us with open arms.
Many thanks to Mr De Villiers and the staff for the well run Athletics Carnival last week. We are grateful for the many parents helpers that assisted and made the day run so smoothly. We used Narrabeen Athletics Centre this year and the feedback is that it is an excellent venue that we will continue to use in the future.

School Counselling Service
This term we have been happy to welcome Shannon Hughes to our school community. Shannon is our new school-based counsellor through CatholicCare Sydney, and will be at our school on Thursdays. School counselling provides counselling and other supports to students and their families, where there may be stress, significant underachieving, relationship or behavioural difficulties, mental health issues or other factors impacting on a student’s learning. It is a short term counselling service, however if there are issues affecting the student that require longer term support, or do not impact on the student’s learning, recommendations for alternative relevant external support for students and their families can be provided. School based counselling provides individual counselling, parent support, group based activities, and liaises with our school’s executive to identify how to best support students at Sacred Heart .
If you have any questions regarding this new service available to our school community, or would like to discuss a possible referral to Shannon, please feel free to speak with me.
Regards
Julie Caldwell
