WELLBEING
Wellbeing tip of the week - Reading, a new journey in every book
How often do you daydream? Those moments where you are looking out at the rolling hills on a road trip and imagine a great battle taking place there, or looking up at the sky and imagining someone (or you) flying through the sky at incredible speeds. Or even those times that start with the phrase, “When I am an adult im going to…(fill in with really cool ideas).” As an adult, I still do this. Not about being an adult, but more about the things I am reading. What if I was a wizard student in Hogwarts? Would I be on the Quidditch team? What if I was destined to drop the One Ring into a volcano? Would I be up to the task?
Reading has become a great love of mine. For someone who did not read as a student, I have a real pleasure of it now. Going on crazy adventures! Being part of unreal journeys full of mystery and suspense! Reading for me is a way to wind down for the day. To calm myself before sleep, to be lost in another world only for a short period of time. A pastime that I always make the effort for.
“But I don’t like reading!” Now is it that you don’t like reading, or you haven’t found the one for you yet?
Fruit of the Week - Watermelon
This week, I’ve been really getting into Watermelon! Watermelon, which is called Citrullus lanatus in Latin, is a flowering vine plant originating in Africa. It has a distinct hard, green outer layer that protects it’s red and sweet inside of red deliciousness! Watermelon is one of my favourite fruits! The crispness when you bite into it and it's oh-so refreshing on a summer’s day. But who’s stopping you having it on a cold night for a little dessert snack?
Watermelon has lots of vitamins and minerals. Especially the ones that give you energy and boost your immune system. So just before you have your training, a quick bite of Watermelon may just do the drick. It is also great for skin and hair health. But most importantly, it tastes amazing! So what are you waiting for? Get some of that Watermelon into you!
