PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Dear Parents and Carers

The stores are filled with Easter eggs, children are getting excited, holidays are being arranged or hastily rescheduled. It is a joyous time of year with beautiful weather to match. After the season  of Lent, Easter, with its symbols of new life, is a delight to celebrate. Our holidays also reinvigorate us and we feel energised to return to our workplace and school. I hope you all have a wonderful break and get to spend some quality time with your  family and friends.

Our Easter Liturgies have been a great success with most classes holding their liturgies this week. A big thank you to Miss Jackson who, as new REC, has helped the staff to prepare and practice the liturgies. Thank you to the many parents who have been to school for our liturgies and our two open classrooms. It's great to see you back!

Many thanks to Claudia Portale (McGrath Real Estate Mosman)  for her generous sponsorship of our Big Blue Awards. The following children were recipients:

Christian C, Abigail B, Hamish Q, Katie W, Emma T, Huxley G, Olivia C, Max O,
Isla E, Paige G, Thomas R, Saira B, Nina S, Lina W.

Please see the note below from Fiona and Julian, Max Doohan’s parents. Next term we will be holding a Multi Coloured Mufti Day for Max to celebrate his life and would like to raise some money to donate to the Victor Chang Cardiac research institute. Can you please pencil in Friday the 14th of May in your diaries for our colour filled mufti day.

"Dear Sacred Heart families,

We want to thank you for the love and care you have shown us in the past few weeks since our beloved Max died suddenly whilst playing basketball with his Sacred Heart and Marist mates.

We are absolutely heartbroken but the kindness of our beautiful community has gone a long way to helping us heal.

We thank Julie and all the teachers who have carried us along through the shock of losing our beautiful boy. We thank the Sacred Heart Angels for their meals made with so much love. Thank you also to those who attended the mass in Max's honour and his funeral which was a wonderful, colourful celebration of his life.  We thank the Year 4 teachers, class mums and students who created a gorgeous comfort book for Max's little brother Archie. You have all helped us through this unthinkable tragedy and we will be forever grateful for your kindness.

Throughout his years at school Max developed into a confident, caring young man who possessed the character strengths of Faith, Generosity and Courage in spades.

We will always hold dear our memories of his time at this wonderful school - his happiest of years were at Sacred Heart with the children and teachers who allowed him to be himself.

As we have discovered this past few weeks, there is something very special, very nurturing and giving about this school and we are lucky to be a part of it.

We know Max will be looking after Archie from heaven but it is very comforting to know Archie is in excellent hands.

Thank you all again for your love and prayers,
Fiona Connolly and Julian Doohan"
