Athletics Carnival for Years 2-6
Online Permission Form & Event Information
In two weeks, Friday 29 March, Sacred Heart Mosman will have our annual school Athletics Carnival at the Narrabeen Academy of Sport & Leisure Centre. (Please take note of Change of Venue from 2018).
All students from year 2 to Year 6 will be required to attend the carnival whilst Kindergarten and Year 1 will have their own sport event next term with further details to be announced shortly.
Students will have the opportunity to have their hair spray painted or face painted in their house colour on the day for a gold coin donation at the event.

STUDENTS INVOLVED |
This is a compulsory school event. All students from year 2 to Year 6 will be required to attend the carnival as it is a school day. |
TRANSPOR- TATION |
All students will be travelling to the venue by bus after morning roll call. Buses will be departing at 9am. Return buses will be departing the venue by 2pm and returning to Sacred Heart for the end of the school day. If you are planning on taking your child home with you straight from the venue please indicate this on the attached permission form. This will allow us to book the appropriate amount of buses for the return journey. |
START/FINISH |
Events will begin at approximately 9:50am (dependant on travel time) The final events will conclude by approximately 2:00pm. |
WEATHER |
As there is no back up date available at this venue the carnival will go ahead unless the weather conditions are considered to be hazardous. The track is an all weather track. In the event of hazardous or very rainy conditions, Year 2 to Year 6 will stay at school. This is very unlikely to occur but please ensure you check for any notifications on Compass prior to sending your child to school on the day of the carnival. |
CLOTHING |
Children are to wear their sports uniform including a hat. All students are advised to bring appropriate sports school uniform sportswear for hot and cold/wet weather conditions. Students can wear colours of their specific sports colour house. |
FOOD |
There will be no canteen facilities available for students. There will be coffee available to parents via the on-site cafe. Students will need to bring enough food and drinks for the day. It is recommended that they bring extra food and water. This should include adequate water and healthy snacks. Please ensure that you use the school excursion bag rather than their normal school bag. |
MEDICAL INFORMATION |
Please include in the attached consent form any relevant medical history for our information e.g. asthma, bee stings, allergies etc. All students must bring any required medication with them on the day of the event and give this to their class teacher during roll call before departure to the event as well as upon arrival back at school. |
SEATING |
Students will be seated in their colour houses in the stadium spectator areas. Parents are also invited to sit in this area (behaind the students) as there is adequate seating. |
EVENTS |
Students from years 2-6 will be able to participate in the 100m, 200m and 800m running events. It is recommended that students compete in a minimum of two running events. Field event finals for students in years 4-6 will be likely to also take place on the day. These events will be for students who have qualified for the finals during PE lessons. An event schedule will be sent out via email before the day of the carnival. |
EVENT ENTRY |
Event Allocations will be done according to placements during PE lessons. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO ENTER YOUR CHILD INTO EVENTS AS IN THE PAST. The event schedule will be sent out via email before the day of the carnival. |
PARKING |
There is limited parking available on-site. |
