PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Dear Parents and Carers

We are very excited to have the Feast of Pentecost celebrated this week at school. Father Phil will be saying mass for our Year Six students and their teachers. Schools have been given the privilege of being allowed to have mass celebrated on site. With physical distancing in place we have chosen Year Six to take part in this special occasion. On the 19th June we will celebrate the Feast of Sacred Heart at school - the mass will be livestreamed into classrooms so all students can participate in our school’s feast day. If you would like to join us, the link will be sent before the mass.

You may have noticed our public calendar has been changed recently. We have postponed or cancelled a number of events and many of the events for Term 3 have the provision that they will be confirmed or cancelled at a later date - this will depend on advice from the government and Sydney Catholic Schools.  We will continue to look at future events and what we will be able to do and what we may have to look forward to for next year.

On Tuesday the 9th June the P and F will meet at 7pm in the hall. We will discuss ways we can connect over the next few terms.

End of Semester Reports and Interviews will go ahead in a modified way. Reports will have an effort mark for English, Maths and Religion as well as achievements and future goals. Learning behaviours will be given an effort mark and teachers will also write a general comment for each student. In the next few weeks you will be sent a link to book interviews through. This year we will be using Compass to book interviews - interviews will be by phone and will begin on the 24th June. Reports will be uploaded to Compass before that date.

Thank you for your help with carline in the mornings. The flow of traffic has improved greatly. Many thanks to our staff who have volunteered for this duty; they cant be there every morning but they are trying to help the students get out of the cars independently and so get all of our children into school in a safe and timely manner.

Please keep Mrs Susan Russell and her family in your prayers. Susan runs our extension program and her engineering group, empower hour and maths olympiad are the highlight of many student’s week. Susan’s husband Graeme is very ill. Mr Nick Brierley will take over the extension activities in Susan’s absence.

Regards

Julie Caldwell
