PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Dear Parents and Carers

Next week we will welcome all our children back to school. The students have begun to settle back into the routines of school. It has been good to have this transition time as it has been a big readjustment for many children. It is good to see their smiles and hear their voices again. If your child is having trouble readjusting to school life please let their teachers know and we will be able to put extra support in for them. As parents are unable to come on site as yet, teachers are very happy to call you and let you know how your children are going. Please send your child’s class teacher an email with a request for a call.

In order to make things as safe as possible for everyone we will have to change a few procedures from next Monday. Please take time to read them and act on them as it will make the difference between a smooth beginning and end to the school day or very long and frustrating queues of cars. All schools have been given permission to have staggered starts and finishes to ensure we get children safely on and off the premises. The safest way to collect and drop off children is still by car. This will be reviewed weekly.

Arrival and Dismissal for Term 2, Week 5

Arrival Week 5 - Week 10 Term 2

This will be the same as it currently is. We have noticed that it is busiest from 8.30-8.45am. In order to stagger our arrivals and to not cause traffic jams and long wait times can you please consider arriving at school from 8.10 -8.30am to alleviate congestion. As arrival time now means an extra teacher duty the gates will be locked from 8.45am. (the bell is at 8.40am).  The gate will be locked and the children will need to enter via the front door of the school by ringing the intercom.

Dismissal Week 5 - Week 10 Term 2

Car-line parents

Capture_Carline.JPG

We would ask parents to please take note of these times as it will be very unlikely that your child will be ready and waiting if you decide to come to car-line early. In this case, we usually ask parents to ‘circle the block’ and rejoin the end of the line at the end of Cardinal St.

To make the flow of traffic quicker -

  • Arrive at the allotted time
  • Ensure your children know how they are getting home
  • If you are taking two groups of children ensure they know and are together
  • Don't get out of the car - teachers will assist with bags

Kameruka /Playground Dismissal

Students will be in lines at the bottom of the basketball court by 3.00pm. We do not expect extended wait times for playground dismissal at this stage. Parents should stay behind the orange cones. We would ask that children alert the supervising staff before leaving with a parent or guardian.

We wish you a calm and quiet week and we look forward to seeing you all next week.

Regards

Julie Caldwell
