PRINCIPALS NEWS
Dear Parents and Carers,
Today is Ash Wednesday and we begin the period of time before Easter. It is a time of spiritual reflection where we can strip back some of the things that we do and look at what really matters in our lives. It is also a time for renewal of our connection with our faith and examine what that looks like. The students celebrated Mass with Father Henry. Thankyou to Mrs Watson who led the Year 3-6 mass and the Infants liturgy led by Deacon Noel and Miss Jackson.
This Friday we will hold our twice a term assembly where traditionally one student from each class receives a Big Blue Award for displaying our school values of Faith, Generosity and Courage. In order to encourage and celebrate our student’s good behaviour we have increased the Blue Awards to two per class each five weeks and we have added two PAWS awards per class to encourage and promote our school rules. Parents will be sent an email before the day if their child is getting an award. Our usual Friday merit certificates will also be given out. At this Friday’s assembly the Year Six students will receive their leadership badges. Many thanks to Claudia Portale From McGrath real estate Mosman who continues to support our Big Blue Awards.
Tomorrow the students and teachers will work with David Harrington in a series of activities that will give the indigenous perspective to our Science work. We look forward to working with David and sharing with you his work next week.
Next week is Catholic Schools Week. This year we will be celebrating 200 years of Catholic education in Australia - a very significant milestone. Normally we would hold our Open Day in this week but this year we have decided to hold it a little later. If you have friends or neighbours who are looking at sending their child to school in 2021 can you let them know that our Open Day is on the 18th March 9.30am- 11.00.
Our first parent social event will be held next week. It is a chance for us to get together as a community. Please see the flyer below for details.
Regards
Julie Caldwell
