LIBRARY NEWS
Welcome to all our new students and families.
We look forward to supporting all our students with an amazing experience of reading and a journey of discovery of what is available in our Library. There are some wonderful new editions of great classics such as Wind in the Willows, Treasure Island, The Jungle Book, Anne of Green Gables, to name a few.
Each Term, we receive the latest in new and popular books to suit all reading levels and interests. Your child can also suggest any books that we may not already have.
Please ensure your child brings their borrowed books to and from school in a “Library Bag” each week. They can be purchased from the Uniform Shop ($10- new, $5- 2nd hand), or any suitable small cloth bag from home will do. We encourage students to be responsible for the books they borrow; please help them to remember to return books on time and to look after them.
Next month, the Premier’s Reading Challenge (PRC) commences again, we would love all students to sign up for it this year. Further details will follow in the coming weeks.
Scholastic Book Club is well underway with the first catalogue sent home last week. Closing date for orders online is Saturday 15th February.
Children’s Book Week is coming up in August and this year’s theme is –
“CURIOUS CREATURES, WILD MINDS”.
We will keep you updated on events, but now is a good time to start thinking about what incredible costume could be made from things you already have at home!
Finally, if you would like to volunteer to cover new books from time to time, please let us know (cecilia.jago@syd.catholic.edu.au). Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
HAPPY READING!
