Principals Letter
22nd February 2019
Dear Parents and Carers
Week Four always brings its challenges. The children are tired, it has been hot and sleeplessness can take its toll. It’s time to look at our commitments, the children’s commitments and weed out the ones that are not important. Generally by Week 6 we are all acclimatised to the year and settled into our routines. Go gently for the next few weeks!
Last Sunday Sacred Heart Parish held a Welcome Mass for new families. We were delighted to have so many new families, Kinder families and kinder students and their Year Six buddies and their families there to welcome the year. Our new Pastoral Care leaders from Year Six held a welcome morning tea for our new students.
This week myself and members of staff have attended meetings to help our school improvement in Mathematics, leadership and School Review. This professional development gives our staff training and the opportunity to help our school grow and improve in our educational journey.
IT Information Evening - Wednesday 27th Feb 7pm
A learning opportunity for parents will be held this Wednesday evening in the school hall. Mr Brierley and teachers will run this session to help parents with security of devices, norms that can be in place at home and are in place at school.
Big Blue Awards and SRC introduction will be held next Friday the 1st March at 8.40am at our morning assembly.
Safety around the school
Currently the teachers and students are working together to make the our afternoon dismissal as safe as possible. We would appreciate parents working positively with us especially in Cardinal Street. Mr De Villiers has been reminding parents of the parking rules outside the church. Please comply with all school, council, police and RTA rules when picking up your children. Convenience should never compromise our students safety.
* Please ensure that your family name is clearly displayed on the visor at all times so teachers can easily read them.
* Please remain in your cars to ensure the flow of the traffic at afternoon carline.
Next week we welcome back Miss Claire Brickley to Sacred Heart. She will be working with Mrs Simone Jones on 2 Gold. We thank the 2 Gold parents for their patience while we comply with Sydney Catholic Schools recruitment processes.
This terms PE activity in school, Dance Fever is loved by all the children. Each year we ask if any children from Years 3 to 6 can commit to extra rehearsals and attend the Dance Fever Challenge. This years will be held on the afternoon/evening of Thursday the 4th of April. If your child is committing to the Challenge you will need to respond to the note that went out this week, the children will need to attend rehearsals, parents will need to buy tickets and commit to collecting the students from Homebush. The students will be taken by bus to Homebush. Over the last few years we have had over 100 students participate in the Dance Fever Challenge.
Regards
Julie Caldwell
