FAMILY EDUCATOR

Pentecost Sunday was last Sunday, this marks a significant day in the Christian calendar, celebrated fifty days after Easter, and is often referred to as "White Sunday" or "Whitsunday." It commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles, as described in the Book of Acts, symbolizing the birth of the Church and the start of its mission to the world.

Pentecost is so important today, primarily because it marks the day when the Holy Spirit was poured out on all believers, fulfilling Jesus’s promise that he would send them an advocate.(John 14:16).

Ways to celebrate pentecost with your family

Prayer is an important way of communicating with God, it serves as a way to connect with him, seek guidance, and express gratitude. Prayer can bring comfort, peace, and a sense of closeness to God especially during challenging times.

I attend Mass at Sacred Heart Parish Wednesday’s 9:15am, so please feel comfortable enough to come and join me anytime. Otherwise if you feel you need prayers for yourself or a family member, send me an email with their name/names and I will be happy to add them to my prayers. anna.macri@syd.catholic.au

Song of the Week
Ascension reminds us we’re meant for greatness—not fame, but holiness. “Rise” encourages students to get up, move forward, and trust in what God is doing—even when life feels uncertain.

song: “Rise” by Danny Gokey    Why this song is important:

Fam4.png
  • It mirrors Jesus’ commissioning: rise and go share the Good News.
  • It uplifts those feeling stuck or unmotivated.
  • It empowers young people to believe in their God-given purpose.

As you listen and sing along, let it stir a fire in you to live boldly and with purpose, knowing Christ is always with you.
