    Reports
At the end of last year, Sydney Catholic Schools put together a working party to ensure consistency of reporting across all Sydney Catholic Schools.  The working party recommended some updates for reports that all schools must now follow.  These include:

    • Semester 1 and Semester 2 reports should have the same format
    • There should be one general comment, not separate teacher comment boxes for Religious Education, English or Mathematics
    • Each school should choose seven Learning and Social Development descriptors to report on which are mandated from Sydney Catholic Schools
    • Achievement in Religious Education for Stage 2 and Stage 3 should be reported on according to strands completed across the semester and include: Scripture and Jesus; Church and Community; God, Religion and Life; Prayer, Liturgy and Sacraments and Morality and Justice.
    • History and Geography subject names change to Human Society and Its Environment - History and Human Society and Its Environment - Geography
    • The general teacher comment should include:
      • A sentence devoted to Religious Education
      • Two specific achievements/strengths/areas of growth
      • Two areas for further development
      • Any non-academic contributions
      • A personal quality and/or interest of the student

At Sacred Heart, the changes mainly impact Semester 2 reports as we had individual  comment boxes for Religious Education, English and Mathematics and now we will have the one Teacher general comment as required.  Reports to parents are still accessed via Compass and the same style and formatting will continue.

In addition to the written report, we conduct our Parent/ Teacher Interviews at the end of the term to give parents the opportunity to discuss the report and their child’s learning with the class teacher.

    Amadeus Concert - 2:00 pm - Years 3 - 6
Parents, grandparents and carers are warmly invited to attend our Amadeus concert being held in the hall Thursday 19 June starting at 2:00 pm.  The timing of an afternoon concert allows the Amadeus teachers to tune instruments, set up the concert space and have final rehearsals before they showcase the students' learning for this Semester.  We hope you can join us.

    Instruments
Children should take their instrument home every Thursday.  Instruments can not be stored at school.

    Afternoon Pick up
    Carline
We have noticed an increase in parents standing at the carline gate and asking the teacher on duty for their child. The teachers are very busy trying to put children safely into cars.  Only children who are being collected in a car should be waiting at the steps and will not be dismissed from this area unless going directly into a car.  Please use the Kameruka pick up area to collect children who are walking.

    Playing
Children are not to play on the school grounds after school.  Once you collect your child, please keep them with you and exit the school grounds.  This enables us to ensure that all children are safely collected at the end of the day.

    Year 5 Camp
Year 5 parents and carers are asked to attend a zoom information session on Monday 2 June at 6:30 pm.  Mrs Watson and I will go through the times, travel arrangements, packing needs and itinerary for the Year 5 camp.  This is an opportunity for all of Year 5 parents to hear about the camp and to ask any questions before the camp on 17th June.

    Good news story
Congratulations to Sadie and Zoe in Year 3 who completed the Balmoral Burn. They participated last year and wanted to make it an annual event together to raise money for such an important cause.
