Lent is the 40 day liturgical season of fasting, special prayer and almsgiving.  We do this to prepare our hearts for Easter, the most joyous day of the church year!

Today at Mass we receive ashes on our foreheads and we say ‘Repent and Believe’ to remind us that we need God’s forgiveness.

Genesis 3:19 - “By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for you are dust and to dust you shall return.”

The word Caritas means Love. What act of kindness could you do today to show your love?

A few ideas of things you can all do as a family during Lent:

*Write a family Lenten prayer and place it on your fridge.

*Say a prayer before dinner and reflect on the good things that have happened during the day.

*Give a family member a big hug and thank them for something that they have done for you.

Sacred heart Church is hosting various programs during lent.

Join us for Adoration on Wednesdays 6pm starting in Lent

Sacred Heart Church will be open for Adoration Wednesdays 6-7pm starting 12 March in Lent.

Please note: Adoration will not take place on Wednesday 19 March due to a Sacramental Program in Sacred Heart Church that evening.

If you would you like to join a Lenten prayer group,

• Deacon Justin’s prayer group will take place at 10am Fridays of Lent (starting 7 March) in the MacKillop Community room. To join call 8969 3200 or email secretary@holyfamilymosman.org.au
• Fr Matthew’s prayer group will take place in the parish hall on Cardinal Street, Mosman 7pm Wednesdays of Lent (starting 12 March) following 6pm Adoration in Sacred Heart Church.
• Denise Playoust’s prayer group will be meeting 6.30pm Mondays during lent at various homes (starting 10 March)

World Day Of Prayer Australia

On the first Friday in March we celebrate World day of prayer.  Every year, the World Day of Prayer unites people across the globe in a spirit of worship, solidarity, and shared faith. This year our focus is the Cook Islands. The theme, “I Made You Wonderful” from Psalm 139:14, serves as a beautiful reminder of God's creative work in each of us and His love of diversity.

Reminder:
Our next community playgroup is on  Monday 24th March at 9am in the parish hall. Parents, grandparents, carer’s… All are welcome.

Tea/coffee & light morning tea is provided for adults.

Walking for Wellbeing group Tuesday morning at 8:45am. Meet at Cardinal St , school front gate. We walk for approx 45 mins, then have morning tea.

SPaR - Stop, Pray and Reflect. Begins with morning Mass at 9:15am at Holy Family church. Then coffee & conversation for whomever is available.
