ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL
Thank you to our School Captains who are such wonderful ambassadors for Sacred Heart. They represented us at our open day this week with such confidence and each wrote a beautiful speech around a variety of unique aspects of our school. Congratulations Elle, Conrad, Abigail and Hugo.
Our ‘Getting to know you’
Interviews are nearly completed and have been well received by parents and teachers. We hope they provided an opportunity to share qualities about your child and to hear how they have settled into the new school year.
School Photos
Our school photo day is this Friday 7th of March. Please order your photos online from ‘The School Photographer’ with X2261EC49H order code. All orders are through the company directly and no orders are taken at school. On the photo day, students should wear their full summer school uniform including the correct shoes, navy socks, tie with shirts or dress.
For those of you ordering sibling photos, the online bookings close today to give the School Photographer the chance to organise lists to ensure these photos are taken. Please order sibling photos by 5 March.
Good news story
We received a beautiful email from the founder to ‘Kids Giving Back’ to celebrate and acknowledge the incredible students from our school who generously gave their time to volunteer with them last year and during the school holidays. Congratulations to:
Maggie Dunger
Ivy Billington
Camille Dunger
These students were among 1170 children who contributed to making meals, breakfast boxes, snack packs, and care packs for vulnerable communities across Sydney. Thank you for living our values of faith, generosity and courage and making a real difference in the world. We are very proud of you!
Devices
All mobile phones brought to school should be kept in students' bags and not used at all throughout the day. Smart watches should be kept on school mode with only a clock face and on flight mode whilst at school. All messaging apps on phones, watches and iPads should be turned off at school.
We ask for parental assistance with this matter, especially by not sending messages to your child throughout the day. If you have an urgent message for your child, please email the office.
Zing Activ Interschool Dance Challenge - is on Tuesday 8 April
This event is open to all students in Years 3-6. The tickets for the challenge go on sale on Monday 10 March. We have no control over ticketing, so please buy your tickets as soon as possible. The system opens at 9am to ensure you get tickets, particularly in the area our school has been allocated.
The students wear two outfits, one is worn underneath the other.
- A white t-shirt with denim shorts (or skirt). This will be for the showdance.
- Own choice - Over the top of their white t-shirt and shorts, the students may wear their own choice of clothes. As there are no change facilities, students just take this layer of clothing off once the partner dances are finished, to be ready for the showdance. The choice of clothing might include:
- Buttoned shirt (over the white t-shirt)
- Long pants (completely optional over the shorts as some children like to cover the denim)
- Dress (would cover both the t-shirt and shorts)
- blouse (over the white t-shirt)
- Skirt (completely optional over the shorts as some children like to cover the denim)
Year 6 Environmental Leaders
Thank you to our Environmental leaders who participated in The Green Schools Collective last week at Balmoral Beach for Clean-up Australia.
The students were also able to listen to Clean-up Australia Chair, Pip Kiernan speak about her father who founded CUA and the importance of clean-ups and the litter/waste problems in Australia today.
