WELLBEING & ENGAGEMENT UPDATE
Last Thursday 12 September was RUOK? Day. A special day dedicated to promoting mental health and well-being by encouraging meaningful conversations. It is about checking in with those around us, asking "Are you OK?" and offering support if needed.
Why It’s Important:
Children, like adults, can experience difficult emotions and challenging times. RUOK? Day is a gentle reminder for all of us to take a moment to connect with our children, ensuring they feel heard and supported. By asking, listening, and offering reassurance, we help create a culture of care and compassion.
How You Can Support Your Child:
- Start the conversation: Ask your child how they’re feeling and listen without judgement. Simple, open-ended questions can help them express their emotions.
- Be present: Spend time with your child without distractions. Creating moments of connection strengthens your bond and helps them feel valued.
- Model empathy: Show your child how to care for others by being a role model. Encourage them to ask their friends, “Are you OK?” and to look out for one another.
- Support resources: If you or your child ever feel overwhelmed, don’t hesitate to reach out to the school or external services for support. Together, we can create a strong, connected community.
Let’s continue building a supportive environment where everyone feels comfortable asking, “Are you OK?”

Have a wonderful week and remember to keep refilling that cup,
