LIBRARY NEWS
There is something magical about getting lost in a good book and there is magic in being surrounded by books! We are getting ready to embrace the magic of Book Week (week 5) here at school.
If you haven’t already, start looking for things around home to conjure up something to wear for our parade on Friday 23rd, straight after assembly. It can be as simple as wearing a cape, fairy wings, glittery top, sparkly shoes, wigs or accessories, to be all set to cast a magical reading spell. There is also a myriad of book characters to choose to dress as too. Please do not go to great expense, be thrifty and recycle/reuse.
The Scholastic Book Fair will open in the Library from Tuesday 20th – 3.00pm, then every morning (8.15 to 9.00am) and afternoon (3.00pm to 4.00pm) until the following Tuesday 27th. This is a wonderful opportunity to come in and browse with your family, lots of books suitable for all reading ages. Every sale at the fair earns rewards for our school to purchase new books and teacher’s resources, benefiting all our students.
We have author/illustrator Matthew Linn, visiting Year 5 and Year 6 on Wednesday 21st. Matthew is known for writing and illustrating Graphic Novels and will be conducting a workshop where students will get to write a short piece and illustrate it too. Can’t wait to see the results of their work.
On Friday 23rd, author illustrator David Legge will visit Kindy and Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3 and finally, Year 4. It is such a delight to have authors visit our school, hear how they got started, where they get ideas from and how they eventually get a book published, they are so inspirational. We hope that this ignites a spark in all of our students to read more and perhaps write their own stories.
Looking forward to celebrating Book Week with our whole school community.
Happy Reading!
