RELIGIOUS EDUCATION UPDATE
A very big thank you to the Sacred Heart community for contributing so generously to the St Vincent de Paul Winter hamper appeal. The Year Six Pope Francis Award students assisted with packing the hampers. The hampers were then presented by the Year Six Mission Team captains, to the St Vincent de Paul society, at our Mass for the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus last Friday.
It was truly special to see the students enjoying the activities to celebrate the Feast of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. We started the day with Mass, followed by an indoor activity with a focus on recognising Jesus as a person of compassion, humility and
gratitude. Jesus showed compassion by reaching out to those in need. He always gave thanks to His Father before he shared a meal. We, too, can be people of compassion and gratitude, as Jesus called upon His disciples to be. The students watched a video about gratitude and they reflected upon all things to be grateful for.
This was followed by fun outdoor games and activities led by the Year Six teachers and students. The day ended with a delicious BBQ lunch organised by Year Six parent, Anthony O’Gorman. We sincerely thank the O’Gorman family, Anthony O’Gorman and his colleagues for organising and running the BBQ lunch. Thank you also to Kindergarten parent Laura Colgate, for volunteering to assist with the preparation and service of lunch. Thank you to all Sacred Heart staff for assisting with the service of lunch on the day.
What a wonderful celebration for the Feast of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.

On Friday, 28th of June we will acknowledge Bishop John Bede Polding, Friday 28th June (for students in Polding House- red house).
What is the connection between Sacred Heart Mosman and Bishop John Bede Polding? John Bede Polding was the first Roman Catholic Bishop and Archbishop of Sydney. Born in England, he arrived in Sydney in 1835. His compassion shone through with the care that he showed towards convicts, Indigenous Australian communities and women in need. Polding honoured every human being with the respect of God. He worked tirelessly to bring Priests and Religious orders to Australia to establish Catholic schooling and provide an education for the youth. |
