Principal's Message
4th July 2019
Dear Parents and Carers
Thank you to the 30 or more parents who attended the Writing workshop on Tuesday. If was a very successful morning where parents were able to see our goals in action. Copies of our learning continuum for writing were handed out so that parents could see where their children were at with their writing and what their future goals might be. The highlight of the workshop was seeing and hearing our writing from Kinder to Year Six. Three of our public speakers (Ruby, Patrick and Henry) entertained the audience with their writing and tips for assisting students at home. Many thanks to Mrs Kelly and Mrs Miller for preparing the workshop.
Last Friday’s Big Blue Awards winners were:
Kindergarten: James Rich & Emma Cichon
Year 1: Samik Panta & Isabella Johnson
Year 2: Charles Wilkins & Benjamin Allan
Year 3: Lola Channing & Benjamin Griffin
Year 4: Ruby O'Donnell & Tom Ramadge
Year 5: Amelia Nobilo & Mia Winter
Year 6: Henry Burton & India O'Connor
Arrowsmith: Ben Naidou
Today was our sports jersey day. Many thanks to those who contributed a gold coin to contribute to our second year six student who has made it through to play for NSW in the Catholic school nationals competition. The children had a fun day and we are all looking forward to the holidays.
Congratulations to our staff who entered the SCS Step Challenge. We had four teams of five staff compete. The winning team walked over 4.5 million steps in eight weeks. They not only won the school Step Challenge but came second out of 258 teams in the archdiocese. What an achievement! Congratulations to Ingrid Carvalo (team leader), Mary Lozina, Andre de Villiers, Martina Peterson and Cecilia Jago.
Mr Tony Farley visited today. Tony is our new Director of Schools for SCS. We spoke of the North Sydney network of schools and how they are currently advertising for an executive leader of our network. This will be an innovation in leadership for Catholic Schools and an exciting change for our schools in the north.
This week the BIG SCIENCE show visited and children saw many experiments that could not be done in a classroom. View the article a little further in the newsletter.
Please find the Term 3 School Timetable for each classroom's weekly plan and the sport uniform days. Year 5 Gold have art in class on a Wednesday as such 5G sport uniform extra day falls on a Wednesday.
We wish to remind parents that it is necessary to arrive on time by 8.40am daily, a teacher is on duty in the school courtyard from 8.10am or please make use of before school care through SCECS and refrain from making medical appointments during school hours.
Please try the staggered collection at pickup times in car-line, K-year 2 from 3-3.10pm and years 3-6 between 3.10-3.20pm due to congestion on the surrounding roads.
Have a wonderful holiday.
