RELIGIOUS EDUCATION UPDATE
Religious Education Updates, Term 2 Week 5, 2024
Acknowledging Saint Marcellin Champagnat, this Friday 31st May- for students in the Champagnat (Gold) House:
This Friday, students in the Champagnat House (Gold) are invited to wear their sports uniform & a gold/yellow accessory (hair band, hat, ribbon, socks-
NO coloured hair, please) in acknowledgement of Saint Marcellin Champagnat, founder of the Marist Brothers.
What is the connection between Sacred Heart school and Saint Marcellin Champagnat? On the 14th of September, 1922, the Marist Brothers opened a school on our site- prior to this date, the school that was built on our site had been run by the Sisters of Mercy and it was known as St Brigid’s school. In 1944, St Brigid’s part of the school was closed and the Marist brothers school was extended in the year 1945. In 1954, the school on our site was opened as the Sacred Heart school. |
Sacred Heart Feast Day, Friday 7th of June & St Vincent de Paul Winter Hamper Appeal
A reminder that next Friday, 7th of June we will celebrate our feast day- The Feast of the Most Holy Sacred Heart of Jesus. Students are invited to wear Mufti clothing (comfortable, warm clothing & closed shoes for fun activities). We will begin the day with a whole school Mass @ 9:15am, followed by special feast day celebrations for the students.
This will include a sausage sizzle at 2nd lunch (1 x sausage sandwich per child). Please pack a normal fruit break and 1st lunch. Please also pack extra snacks if you think that 1 x sausage sandwich will not be enough for your child’s 2nd lunch.
*****If your child will NOT be partaking in the sausage sizzle OR if your child has specific dietary requirements, fill this google form in by this Friday, 31st May*****
Please continue giving generously to the St Vincent de Paul Winter Hamper Appeal (see flyer below for more information). Winter hampers will be presented to St Vincent de Paul representative Peter Marshall, at our Sacred Heart Feast Day Mass on the 7th of June- if you are donating a pantry item, please ensure that it is in date- thank you.
