Science in Term 2
Earlier this week we were visited by a scientist from Fizzics Education for the grand-finale after these crazy scientists have been with SHM over the past term teaching K-6 age appropriate science and experiments. All lessons were very well received by the students. They were taught about electronic circuits, the science of toys, marvellous mixtures, energy - light and sound focus, chemistry capers and about the properties of materials.
This week Fizzics showed us how mega bubbles are made with a mixture, what colours light is made of, how sounds change to a higher pitch when instruments are shortened, how air can move in circles when pushed out from a drum, how air rushes forward to support other moving air and the impact of liquid nitrogen on the properties of materials. The children were exclaiming and clapping with excitement as various scientific wonders were presented. We definitely have some curious scientists in the making.
A special thanks to Mrs Martina Petersen who arranged this incursion for the school term.
