Term 2, Week 4

The past election weekend was quite an eventful one.  The catch cry seemed to be “I believe in miracles.” It made me think about the idea of miracles.  If we live our lives in wonder and awe of God, miracles become so much more apparent in our earthly lives but why do we lose the ability to see the miracles in birth, in life, in everyday things? My guess is that faith needs to be exercised daily in order to be able to reach that level of consciousness where miracles are more apparent.  May your prayers lead you to a positive mindset so you can delight in the miracles around you.

The children are very excited about our Family Life competition.  We have had many entries describing some awesome ways that families spend time together.  The winner of our competition will be announced at the end of week four.

Do you knit?

SHM is  eager to teach our older students to knit so we can make blankets for Vinnies. A few talented parents or grandparents would really make life easier.  

Are you free on Thursdays from 1 to 2 pm? We would like to start in the next few weeks.  Please contact Mary Lozina or the school office.

Thank you to Alex Clyde and Marcus and Jess Wilkinson for helping with the pickup of bread from Baker’s Delight Bridgepoint.  We now have two Baker’s Delight stores on board. Please make sure you thank them with your hospitality when you are in the area.

We need to fill two more  spots:

• Bread delivery (one box) to Crows Nest on Friday mornings before 11am (once or twice a month).
• Return of crates to Baker’s Delight Neutral Bay on Fridays (small to medium car is fine).  

These are rostered so you can do weekly or monthly duties.

Thank you to Jacqui Saric who led the Walk and Talk brigade on Tuesday.  This might become your permanent gig! I’ll be walking with you all next week.

Please donate snacks and place them in the basket which is in the school foyer.

VINNIES WINTER HAMPERS

SHM parent representatives will be organizing our Vinnies Winter Hampers in the next few weeks.  These hampers are put together for our local families on the north side, who need a helping hand.  A flyer will be coming soon.

PARISH NEWS……

YEAR 2 FAMILY MASS

Thank you to the families who attended our year two family Mass.  Your support and friendship was much appreciated on the day. The children did an awesome job during the Mass and the parents’ morning tea was scrumptious.  Let’s do this again sometime!

CONFIRMATION RETREAT DAY

Many thanks to Thomas Dabbah for his excellent organizational skills.  The Confirmation retreat day was well attended and the students had lots of fun while learning and developing insight into their faith.

ANGELS FOOD DELIVERY

Do you know of anyone in need of a meal?  Anyone struggling? The Sacred Heart parish has an Angels service which delivers dinners to families in need.  Please call the school office for more details.
