PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Parents and Carers
Thank you to the Kindergarten parents who were able to attend the 100 days of Kindergarten liturgy in the hall on Friday. It is a credit to parents and teachers alike to see the positive growth and development of the children in their first year of school. Many thanks to Mrs Lozina our Family Educator, for preparing the liturgy.
For those of you who have met Deacon Mark over his time at Sacred Heart we were pleased to learn that he has been appointed to the Mosman parish and will stay on at the parish as our new Assistant Priest after his ordination next Saturday. Please note the two masses next Sunday that the school will be involved in.
Calendar dates. As a school we do try to keep dates the same and communicate these well but circumstances can change at times and dates need to change. The Compass calendar is linked to our live school calendar and is the most up to date. The calendar below has been updated as well.
It was a delight to attend the first Conference Athletics yesterday with the team. Please see Mr De’s account below. Thank you to Mr De who ran the carnival’s field events and Miss Blake who was our teacher track marshall for the day.
Community News: Congratulations to the Seve family for hosting the Breast Cancer fundraiser event last Sunday. Please see Lindi’s account and achievement below. We are very proud of our community’s efforts to raise money for this very important research.
In order to equip our children with the best tools to support positive mental health our teachers are getting further training in ways to support students. Miss Roache and Miss Morgan will be attending the Peaceful Kids program later this week and Miss Hollingsworth and Miss Blake will be attending the Rock and Water program in the coming weeks.
Mr Brierley and I will be attending the Principal and AP’s Retreats next week. It will be a good chance to connect with colleagues again after a number of years of only meeting via Zoom.
Please see our report on our Waste Free week. We are learning as a school to be more sustainable and our efforts are really paying off. As a result we would like to go Waste Free every day to see how we can become greener, how we can further educate our children and contribute to healthy and waste free lunches. On that note could you please note that our Covid policy of not having birthday food/lolly treats at school is still in place.
We are looking forward to another wonderful Science Week this year. We’ll let you know some of our exciting events in Week 5 and what we have been learning in Science in the next newsletter.
Regards
Julie Caldwell
