PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Parents and Carers
Thank you to the Year 4 families who attended the 9am Family Mass last Sunday at Sacred Heart. Our next Family Mass is Sunday 19th June and Year 3 are invited to attend. Our invitations to Sunday mass each week are part of the Archdiocesan project Back to Parish - to encourage, especially the parents of children in Catholic schools to engage with the church and the church community again after the long break with Covid. We are particularly looking for singers who will join Miss Jackson in supplementing the parish choir.
Kinder and Year 6 will have mass together at 9.30am this Friday 10th June. Parents are invited to attend mass at 9.30am with them. Both classes are very excited to attend mass together so they can be with their buddies while celebrating the mass.
Student Behaviour at Sacred Heart.
Term 2 always brings its challenges with behaviour. This term is no different to others. Each term we hold behaviour meetings with reminders about the rules we have and the ones we would like to focus on.
Students were reminded that in busy times when we have a lot of disruption to the school with sick teachers and students it is really obvious which students step up and really focus on their learning and are welcoming and supportive of the many relief teachers we have had to employ due to staff sickness. Some students meanwhile use this as an opportunity to be disruptive or cruise with their work. It would be a good idea to chat with your child and see how their behaviour has been over the last term and whether they have stepped up or not.
Three reminders were given at our behaviour meeting yesterday
- All children should come to lines promptly after the bell
- Respect for teachers should be shown at all times
- Children should walk and not run on stairs and ramps
We are in the process of hearing what the students really value in the playground and what we can do to change up the playground spaces and equipment. We are looking for exciting and innovative ideas from the children to help use our spaces effectively and in a fun way.
Tell them from Me Survey 2022
This survey will close next Friday. These are anonymous surveys and can be a great opportunity to vent about concerns but it is also a good opportunity to let the school know what is going well so that the new leadership of the school in 2023 knows what is valued by the community. The link to the Sacred Heart survey is http://tellthemfromme.com/shmosman It will close on Friday the 17th June.
Please note: The newsletter will be produced every second week in future. It will be supplemented by Compass notifications as reminders.
