Library News
Our library provides a social space to meet, collaborate, research, learn and relax. It develops a reading culture and raises the level of literacy across the school. All students are encouraged to borrow each week which empowers them to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers and skilful, efficient researchers.
Resources include fiction and non-fiction books, audio books, journals and learning objects.
All our resources are catalogued through the Oliver Library Management System which provides ongoing access to authentic, authoritative, age appropriate resources to specifically meet student and staff needs. We are constantly purchasing and obtaining new books to keep up to date with requirements and popular requests.
Library borrowing day for K-6 is Fridays. However, books may be returned at any time during the week.
We encourage everyone to respect and take care of our books and so therefore require all students to have a library bag to protect books when carrying to and from school.
Library bags can be ordered through the Uniform shop -$10 new and $5 second hand via QKR!. However, any suitable cloth bag from home is acceptable.
Students and parents are responsible for ensuring that books are returned within due dates and to report any lost or damaged books that ultimately need replacing via a donation on QKR!
Each term, we are provided with the latest catalogue from the Scholastic Book Club which is a wonderful opportunity to purchase books for your child/ children. The school in turn, receives vouchers to purchase new books and resources as a result of this.
For your convenience, orders are made online via their website -scholastic.com.au/LOOP (or download the app) and delivered to school for collection.
The Premier’s Reading Challenge is well under way and runs through until August 30, 2019. Students have been allocated a unique password to log their personal progress through their website- www.premiersreadingchallenge.nsw.edu.au. Books read together in class can also be added to their reading log.
