Dear Parents and Carers
This week I was fortunate to attend Mosman Council’s International Women’s day Breakfast with our School Captains. The speaker was Professor Mary Louise McLaws, a well renowned epidemiologist. She spoke about her work with various epidemics: HIV, Ebola, SARS, Covid and her work with WHO. Her message to the community and young leaders emphasised the importance of taking opportunities and the growth of compassion, kindness, integrity and logical thinking that came about as a result of her work with her mentors who encouraged the growth in others. Our young leaders met with the student leaders of Blessed Sacrament, Clifton Gardens and their new Principal Leanne Meehan. We talked about our future plans to ensure both Catholic Primary Schools in the Sydney Harbour North parish work together for the benefit of our students and parish.
Cross Country Trials 11th March
Our Cross Country trials are tomorrow. As rain is predicted please send a raincoat with your child as we will go ahead unless the rain is very heavy. If the trials can’t go ahead we will use the results of the fitness trails Mr De Villiers has been holding in class time over the last few weeks.
Mathematical Expertise and Excellence
We are very proud of our teachers that volunteer for the MEE program. While they get some time out of class for Professional Development it does mean that there is extra work in preparing lessons, having them shared and critiqued by a group of colleagues and having their teaching of the new tasks observed and critiqued by fellow teachers. Congratulations to those members of staff who are working as mentors, to those who have completed the process and to those who are just beginning on their journey. Thank you to 4 Gold and 2 Blue who shared their mathematics lesson with five extra teachers in class.
Please note the School Photos will be held this Friday. Full summer uniform should be worn. Our uniform is showing an improvement on last year. Thank you for supporting this as it ensures that our students can be proud representatives of Sacred Heart and to have a sense of belonging to our school.
