Dear Parents and Carers,
Who would have thought that we would be able to have a Fair this year!
As part of their learning last term Year One set out to solve a real world problem - “Our Spring Fair has been cancelled!!”
They enlisted their teachers and their Year Six friends to help come up with a solution. They sent the callout to parents and got a group of “behind the scenes” volunteers. After many meetings and lots of work from students, teachers and parents, I am proud to announce that the student led Christmas Fair will go ahead on Friday the 27th November. The students have organised stalls, games, showbags and Covid safe plans. Please see the Year Six student’s note below and have a look on Qkr for tickets and optional show bags. There will be no food stalls that day but our canteen provider will have pizza and a Christmas treat to order online. Parents have the option to buy silver, $15 or gold $20 tickets. This will give your child access to all the activities and raffle tickets on the day. Showbags can be ordered separately on the QKR app which is live today.
Any profits made on this day will be used for our environmental sustainability project for 2021.
Christmas Fair Invitation
On Friday the 27th the children are asked to wear Christmas dress up outfits to make the day more festive but to also align with their class - Deck the School theme. The outfits should be simple and easy to wear - given our recycled theme, it would be good if they creatively use something they have at home. The theme for each grade is:
We still have need of some supplies for our mainly recycled Christmas. Please see the request below:
Advent 2020 - Hope and Faith, peace, love and joy.
It is no surprise that our Christmas Fair is scheduled for the 27th November as that weekend marks the beginning of Advent 2020, our time of preparation and waiting for the coming of Jesus. The themes of Hope and faith, peace, love and joy mark the four weeks of Advent. Our Christmas Fair follows the themes of hope and faith in the first week of Advent as we glimpse the new possibilities that give rise to hope through letting our students and teachers lead us in this faith filled expedition.
Kind regards,
Julie Caldwell
Principal
As our annual swimming carnival has been cancelled for the 2020 year, to accommodate for students who are passionate about competitive swimming we will be asking students to submit their personal best times to be considered for the 2021 Eastern Cluster Swimming Team. For those students who would like to be considered, please complete the following form with details of the events you would like to be considered for; your times and a date this time was achieved. If this is not possible, it would be great if a student could be timed close to the submission of this form - this will also be accepted. To make this process streamlined, we would appreciate it if the times submitted could be verified by a coach or representative. Entries will be due on Friday the 27th of November.
KINDERGARTEN ZOO MOBILE EXCURSION
Last Thursday, Kindergarten had a visit from the Taronga Zoo Mobile team. It was exciting and we were able to meet some special animals - Farley the Frog, Grendal the Blue Tongue Lizard, Touché the Turtle, Acacia the Spotted Python and Luna the Possum. The Zoo Keeper spoke about these precious animals; the special places that they live and how important it is to care for their special places. The students had some fantastic questions to ask and were able to share lots of facts they already knew about these animals!
