Dear Parents and Carers,

Some of our Year Six students recently entered the Christmas Art Story competition run by Sydney Catholic Schools.  You may have seen our entries in our previous newsletter. It was a lovely surprise for us to hear that two of our students have had their artworks chosen as finalists to appear in the SCS exhibition.  Serena Tilley and Elena Cleary both painted their interpretations of the story of Jesus’ birth.  Congratulations to both girls on this remarkable achievement.

Our teachers are working on our end of year events for the children.  We will have some child focused events at school.  Current restrictions do not allow us to hold any parent social events in the school or elsewhere under the  P and F or school banner. I know it is difficult to imagine that we can't celebrate Christmas together but hopefully next year will be a very different story. 

We held our first Zoom parent Orientation meeting for our Kinder 2021 parents last Friday. Our next meeting is tomorrow and the following Friday we are able to welcome our new Kindergarten children on site.  A very big thank you to Miss Jackson and Miss Monkton who have produced videos for our new Kindergarten students. They will hopefully give our new students an insight into our school and what a day in Kindergarten looks like.

Congratulations to Nick Brierley on his appointment into the substantive role of Assistant Principal.  His role of third leader and Religious Education Co-ordinator is now vacant and will be advertised.  Mrs Edwards is currently filling the role in an acting position.  As this is a leadership position in the school, Sydney Catholic Schools will again manage the recruitment process.

Our teachers are currently working on assessments of the children's progress this year.  The reports for the end of the year will contain grades for each subject as well as effort, with the exception of Kindergarten.  The report format will be similar to the midyear reports as the feedback regarding this format was very positive.
