Dear Parents and Carers
I drove to work the other morning with a smile on my face as I pondered the way St Ignatius encourages to see God in all things: in the sunrise, the early morning joggers, the clean crisp air, a couple of dads with their young babies. While we currently have a troubled church it is important to ground ourselves each day with the thought that we have God who loves us unconditionally. That we can see God in the people in our community, in our family, in creation and in the wonderful teachers and clergy at Sacred Heart. Its important to hold on to the simple, good things in our lives when things are not as they should be elsewhere. A message from Sydney Catholic Schools and the Archbishop is linked here.
BIG BLUE AWARD ASSEMBLY
This morning we held our Big Blue Awards. This is again sponsored by Claudia Portale who is the head of McGrath Real Estate Mosman. Claudia is an ex Sacred Heart parent who supports us by providing a $25 book voucher for each student who is presented an award at our eight Blue Awards each year. This morning we also introduced our Student Council Representatives to our community and gave out our weekly merit awards. The awards this morning were a change of time and venue and we also had a coffee cart for our busy parents to stop, breathe, have a coffee and join us before they moved on to their busy day. Thank you to the many parents who attended. We welcome feedback to see if this should become a regular event.
CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK 4th March - 8th March
Next Friday is our OPEN MORNING 9.30am - 11.00 8th March.
Ou Open Morning is for prospective student’s families for 2020. Please let your friends know if they have missed our advertising. If you have a sibling coming next year could you please get your application in as soon as possible (the office has prepared packs which they can send home) because we would like to hold sibling interviews before the April school holidays and new parent interviews after the holidays.
UNIFORM SUPPLY
Our uniform contract with Yeronga has run is at the end of its five year term. We are currently looking at the market to make sure we have the best quality and service that the school can find. We will be looking at our current supplier as well as two other suppliers. We do not intend to change the uniform colour or style but to look at the best supplier for our school in regards to quality. If you have any feedback to help us in our decision making re our uniform please send it to info@shmosman.catholic.edu.au by Friday the 8th March.
VACATION CARE THIS HOLIDAYS
Attached is a flyer for our first vacation care run by SCECS at school. The service will run each day of the holidays excluding public holidays. Listed are the days the service is available and the activities on each day. Some days there will be excursions out of the school and some there will be events at school. Please book in or register early so that Liam can ensure he has the correct ratio of staff booked in for each day.
TECHNOLOGY TALK
On Wednesday evening Mr Brierley and Mrs Peterson gave a very informative talk to parents re technology use in the school, keep your child safe and limiting screen time. The parents who attended found it a very worthwhile information evening. Mr Brierley will load the talk onto our BYODD site (on our website) for parents who were not able to attend.
