Dear Parents and Carers,
This week marks the end of our completely online program for school. Our plan is to transition 50% of the children each day for the next few weeks. Our strategy around this plan is to ensure that the children get into their new routines re the Covid virus and also to cushion their landing back to school. As we have seen with the children who have returned to school already there is an air of shell shocked survivors as they emerge from their quiet cocoons of home and back into the routines, socialisation and noise of school. On the days the children are at school they will have extra teachers on hand to ensure that we can gauge where they are in their learning and the days where the children are at home their online learning will be more passive.
We will be operating as per our usual schedule. Children will need to be at school by 8.40am. For Weeks 3 and 4 children can wear their sports uniforms on both days they attend.
A reminder of the days when children will be attending next week is below. Swapping of days is not an option. Parents of children who are currently booking them into extra days can continue to send them as long as they book through the office by sending an email to info@shmosman.catholic.edu.au
Unfortunately parents will be unable to enter the site without an executive member of the Leadership team’s permission. This will continue until the Government relaxes this restriction. We will detail pickup and drop off procedures on Friday. A full risk assessment for the site including plans for extra cleaning and an extra sickbay area are currently being completed.
If you have any questions regarding the return to school process please send to info@shmosman.catholic.edu.au and we will send a FAQ out by Friday answering all questions.
Thank you to Mary Lozina for keeping our faith strong during this time and giving us constant reminders of God’s presence amidst the constant barrage of negative news. The many good news stories that have come from our school are a tribute to a strong community that supports each other in difficult times.
To all of our fabulous mothers. Happy Mother’s Day for Sunday. Our mothers have shown how versatile they are at managing many competing agendas and roles. It is amazing to see how creative you have been in your teaching role, your work roles, your mothering roles and your roles as friends and support of each other.
Thank you to our teachers who have tried to contact each family this week to check in and see how things are going. We would like to send out a survey to each family soon. It would give us very valuable data to get parent’s feedback on their children’s learning at home. In fact many of the teacher/parent conversations have been reflections on the way children have learnt and their learning behaviours at home. We would really appreciate you completing the short survey in order to have a shared understanding of each student's work.
Regards
Julie Caldwell
