Dear Parents and Carers
Our annual Spring Fair was held last Sunday. While we really appreciate the money raised the importance and benefit of the event for our community is priceless. Thank you to all the organisers of each of the areas and a big thank you to Jacqui McCarthy who kindly and patiently co-ordinated all the different committees. It was a great team effort. Thank you to all the parents who volunteered as well as those who brought their children along. Two new events this year were really well received - the Talent Showcase was a great hit with lots of students showcasing their talent and the student led flashmob was a crowd favourite.
This week many of our Year three students made their First Reconciliation. This is an important step in their journey as Catholics and shows how they can grow and mature with the Sacrament of forgiveness. Many thanks to Mr Brierley and the Year three teachers for supporting the children.
The Swimming Carnival is on next week on Friday. Mr De Villiers would like to prepare the program and so needs all entries in by this Friday. Please click on the following link to do so to avoid confusion and disappointment on the day.
The children are preparing for the Christmas Carols and we have matched some simple Christmas costuming with their songs.
Kindergarten: Silver and white clothing or Angels
Year One: Angels or elves
Year Two: Disco clothes - Christmas theme
Year Three: Christmas themed with tinsel or christmas decorations
Year Four: Summer theme (colourful shirts, summer play clothes)
Year Five: Hip hop type clothes - Christmas theme
Year Six : Christmas colours - jeans/pants and colourful Christmassy top
Regards
Julie Caldwell
WHO HAD A BLAST AT THE SUMMER FUN SCHOOL FAIR?
It was wonderful to see the school filled with bright colours and beaming smiles on Sunday. Parents and children all looked like they had a ball. To see so many courageous performers in the Talent Show being supported by their friends and families was a delight. And the Mini Art Gallery was a stand-out. We all loved the BBQ! The inflatables were awesome! And the games and activities in Sideshow Alley were brilliant.

On Tuesday and Wednesday this week, many of our Year 3 students made the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The candidates are excited for their first Sacrament made with their school friends, and it was fantastic to see families attending in support of the children.
As with all of our Sacraments, we have to thank our Parish Priest Fr Phil Linder as well as our Sacramental Co-ordinator Mr Thomas Dabbah. The students are certainly enriched by their contributions.
Sydney Catholic Schools ‘The Christmas Story’ Art Competition
Year 6 students were given an opportunity to enter the annual ‘The Christmas Story’ Art Competition held by Sydney Catholic Schools. It was great to see our selection of students working hard on their artworks both before and after the school holidays. This involved students staying back at school to work on their artworks in our art room (some until 6pm!). However, I am told that some students put in many more hours at home. What a great effort!
The students submitting artworks this year were Tiernan Cargill, Harry Farquharson, Charlotte Grebe, Ava Hatzidis, Kiera Mironova, Lulu McNamee, India O’Connor and Francesca O’Grady.
This year, Ava Hatzidis was lucky enough to be accepted into the Exhibition at the University of Notre Dame, Chippendale on December 1. Congratulations Ava! What an achievement!
St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal
As you can imagine, Christmas is always a difficult time for some families in our community. The rising costs of celebrating Christmas can be hard for families, so the St Vincent de Paul Society is on hand to help those who need it most.
There will be a note circulating to students and families soon. Essentially, each grade has a set of items that they are encouraged to bring. Collection baskets will be available in each classroom.
Class parents and our Year 6 students will be packing the hampers for St Vincent de Paul Society so that they can distribute to those in need before Christmas.
