Dear Parents and Carers
Last week our staff took part in a Staff Faith Formation program at Cana Farm. Sacred Heart has been working in partnership with Cana over the last few years. They provide our Father’s and Mother’s Day gifts and hold a stall at the Spring Fair. Cana Communities is a charity that supports people who have experienced extraordinary life challenges. At the farm they grow fresh produce and learn life skills. The volunteers that spoke to us had had particularly challenging lives but Cana has provided a family that forgave, celebrated and accepted them. The Sacred Heart staff worked alongside the volunteers in the garden, helped get Christmas gifts ready, made lunch and prayed with the workers at Cana. It was a privilege to meet the staff and volunteers at Cana and to see the wonderful work they do. We are very proud to deepen our knowledge of the charity that we wholeheartedly support.
Last week our music tutor provider gave notice that they will finish at Sacred Heart at the end of the year. We are currently in conversation with Music Mates regarding music lessons and group lessons. They will be at school all day next Tuesday for a musical experience for the children. Parents are welcome to attend the sessions to see their work. Expressions of interest will be sent to parents next week regarding music lessons for next year at Sacred Heart. Music Mates Rock Orchestra will work with the following grades next Tuesday at these times. Each session is 90 minutes long
8.50 am Years 5 and 6
10.00 am Year 3 and 4
12.00 pm Years 1 and 2
2.00 pm Kindergarten
Please note, when preparing lunches for school, hot water in thermos flasks is not allowed due to safety reasons.
Good luck to all our basketball players who will travel to Albury this weekend. Mr de Villiers and I will be in attendance in Albury for the weekend. Thank you to our Sports Club for organising the event for our players.
Regards
Julie Caldwell
Our attention this week is focused on the children’s creativity…
We want to know all about your talented, shining stars. Are your children thinking of entering an act in the Talent Show? Please encourage them to share their skills and flair by entering our Talent Show line up! This is their chance to really shine in front of a welcoming audience. Contact Andrea at hatvan@mac.com to find out more and book them in.
Also, templates will be arriving in school bags this week to create your child’s own unique, home-made Christmas Cards or calendars, notebooks, diaries, pillowcases, etc. Your children will love pouring their hearts into their colourful creations. And you’ll love having your own bespoke cards and gifts to give at Christmas. Details on how to order them will be included with the templates. Sample products can be viewed in the school office or on the ordering website http://www.crazycamel.com.au/14108
And while we’re on the subject of artful, colourful creations… do we have any grown-up artists in the community who might volunteer to be our face-painters at the Fair. Ideally we’d have 2 volunteers so you’re not painting little faces for 4 hours straight. Please contact Alicia Fenwick if you’d like to help at Alicia.fenwick@optusnet.com.au
And finally, wristbands, tokens and show bags for the Summer Fun School Fair go on sale this week. Get in early and buy yours before the Fair, to benefit from the early-purchase discounts. Visit www.trybooking.com/BFYWE And make sure you also buy your child’s gorgeous Summer Fun self-portrait using the same link… it’ll be a masterpiece you’ll treasure forever.
Good reading families! Welcome to our final term of sports news. Lots of sport and achievements to talk about this term. Starting off with a celebration of our students success.
Congratulations to Christian Camus in year 6 who has placed 3rd at the Australian National Athletics Championship in the Boys 12 Years 800 Metres. Christian and his family flew to Darwin for this event, which spanned over 2 days of intense competition. Christian and his family are thrilled with this result as this is his highest achievement in his Athletics career. Additionally, this is the highest level you can reach through the school system. A highlight of Christian’s primary school journey that I am sure he will cherish. Congratulations Christian on all your hard work and dedication! The Sacred Heart Community is thrilled with your achievement and we are all very proud of you! When you see Christian around the school, be sure to congratulate him and give him a high five!
For your viewing entertainment, you can watch Christian's 800m heat by clicking here and his final by clicking this link. You have to see it to believe it!
Good luck to all the teams who will be representing Sacred Heart at the CPS Catholic Schools Basketball Challenge at Aubury. Mrs Caldwell, Mrs Grebe and myself (Mr De-Villiers) from the staff will be there for the event supporting our teams.
