Dear Parents
Welcome back to a new school year. I hope you have all had a restful break from the routines of school and that you are excited about what lies ahead for the school year ahead.
Yesterday we welcomed our new Kindergarten children and a large number of new families. Thank you to all the staff who have made the children’s transition into their new classrooms and school such a positive experience.
Please keep Wednesday the 13th February in you diaries, as this will be the date we will be having our parent information evening.
The evening’s structure will be as follows:
6pm - Volunteer induction (This is compulsory each year if you intend to volunteer at any school event, excursion or assist in the classroom)
6.15pm - Principal’s address. Feedback from our school goals last year will be provide and our school focus and goals for this year will be outlined. There will also be an address from our P & F President
6.45pm - Session 1 in your child’s classroom
7.15pm - Session 2 in your child’s classroom (repeated)
Please excuse my absence over the past few days. I am very sorry that I have not been there to greet you as the new year begins. My father passed away peacefully yesterday afternoon surrounded by our family. We are happy that he has had such a wonderful 90 years of love, hope and laughter.
I would like to thank you for your ongoing support, and I look forward to working with you throughout the year to ensure a successful one for all.
Regards
Julie
Week 1, Term 1
Welcome to our new Sacred Heart Families! It is always with such joy that we watch our new students settle into their new environment. Sometimes there are smiles all round, sometimes there may be a few tears but there is always love and buckets of kindness all around them to over-ride any anxious feelings.
Our Sacred Heart Community does this best! Why? Simple!
Our Catholic faith teaches us to love God first and foremost. We do this through reading, listening to and understanding the Sacred Scriptures. We do this by taking part in the Most Holy Eucharist when we attend weekly Mass (for some of the devoted, it might even be daily). We do this through outreach and service to others.
Our faith teaches us to love others in the form of practising good deeds and acts of kindness, which ties in so perfectly with our school motto. We’ve started our school year reaching out in Generosity to others. May we walk in Faith and always have the Courage to stand up as proud followers of Christ.
As a parent of fourteen years at the school, I encourage fellow parents to take part in as many initiatives as possible. Embrace what the school and your parish has to offer. Be open to learning about your faith in a deeper way and enjoy the school year ahead.
SHM PRAYER LIST…..There is strength in communal prayers…
We pray for Mrs Caldwell’s father who passed during the week. Our thoughts and prayers are with her and her family.
We also pray for the Byrne and Portale family who also have had sadness during the holiday break.
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
GIFT OF BREAD IS UP AND RUNNING !!
