Remember it's RAT test day tomorrow!
Dear Parents and Carers
It is Week 3 already and the children have settled happily into school, they know their class routines and are getting to know their teachers well. The teachers are really getting to know their students through some of the special activities they have planned and through their assessments tasks. Congratulations to our Kinder class who have been so quick to settle, to make friends and to learn their classroom rules.
Enrolment in the parish Confirmation program is commencing shortly so please contact the parish to enrol. Normally Year 6 would be eligible for this Sacramental program.
Thank you to the parents who have donated to the Vinnies Snack Drive. Please see Heartfelt for the details regarding this initiative.
Our last Parent Teacher Information night over Zoom will be tomorrow evening. Thank you to all of our teachers who have informed their parents about how they set up the routines and structures in their classrooms. Thank you to Mr Brierley who has supported all of the teachers in their Zoom meetings over the last week.
Our Year Six students were led by a number of teachers in a Leadership planning afternoon last week. All leadership teams worked with different teacher mentors to look at their big goals and the actions they would take throughout the year to achieve them. It was very pleasing to see that Year 6 were so passionate about their leadership responsibilities and were able to set their own goals aligned with the goals of the school.
Our Sports Club is shortly rolling over seasons and we have the Kinder - Come and Try soccer session this afternoon after school. Netball grading begins tomorrow - this is off site this year. Thank you again to all of the parents who volunteer to help our students play their favourite sports in winter and summer.
An invitation went home yesterday to Kinder parents and new families who are invited to the school next Friday evening for Welcome Drinks. Hopefully later in the year we will be able to hold a larger event with all parents able to come on site.
Thank you to the parents who have volunteered to be Class Parents this year. We are very grateful for your help in staying connected at the school. Those class parents would have received an invitation to a meeting tomorrow evening via Zoom.
During Covid we encouraged parents to use carline as a safer option. As restrictions start to ease you might like to consider picking your children up from the playground. This is a very quick option and the children are now in a good routine lining up on the basketball court. We are able to have most children picked up by 3.05pm which is much quicker than carline. A reminder that unfortunately dogs cannot be brought into the school during our pickup time.
We have been very fortunate that our Covid cases have been quite limited at the school so far. Thank you to all parents for everything you have done to keep your children safe and the community safe. Information regarding Covid cases in class is sent to parents when a child has been infectious while attending school. If there are a number of cases within a week only one notice will be sent. Further notices will be sent if more cases appear at a later date and the children have been at school. If a child who has been a close contact at home and then subsequently contracts Covid, notification will not be sent as the child has not been infectious while at school.
Please see the information below regarding our exciting new Parent Engagement Series that will begin next week with a session on Reading for K-2 parents. All parents are welcome to join these zoom meetings. These sessions will continue throughout the year. Our plan is to look at English and Mathematics first. If you have any thoughts regarding other topics please drop us a line.
Regards
Julie Caldwell
School Covid Update
Now that school has begun, if a student at the school (who has been infectious while at school) tests positive:
- Please log the case with NSW Health
- Let the school know so they can alert the grade the child is in. No names will be provided.
This information will be sent out in an alert by the school if the child was at school while positive. Classmates are not required to isolate - just monitor for symptoms
- Positive students must isolate for 7 days after their positive RAT test
- There is no need to get a PCR as RAT tests are now deemed more relevant.
- Students can return to school after seven days if they are symptom free - no test needed to prove this. Sick days should be entered in Compass.
- Students who test positive are exempt for RAT testing for the next 28 days
- Siblings and children of positive cases should isolate for 7 days as household contacts unless they have been positive for Covid in the last 28 days.
SACRED HEART PARENT ENGAGEMENT SERIES 2022
This year teachers will be working with students and parents to create individual student semester goals in the areas of English, Mathematics and Learning/Social Behaviours. These goals will be communicated to parents during meetings beginning Week Five of this term.
To further support parents in assisting their child’s achievement of these goals, Sacred Heart will be offering a series of Parent Information Sessions. These “bite size” sessions are about ½ hour in duration and will include question and answer time.
We are pleased to announce our FIRST session for 2022!
Session One: Home Reading For Students: K-2
Parents of students K-2 are invited to a Zoom information session and question time on Wednesday 23rd February at 9:30am
This session will outline
- How the school determines and uses the PM reading levels

Term 1 Week 3, 2022
We say it in our school prayer each day: "Sacred Heart school, a place of love and care." This week, the children reflected upon how much they are loved by God
and loved by their families. With February being the month of the Holy Family, we are reminded of the love that Joseph, Mary and Jesus shared.
Here are some artworks created by Year Three in response to the love shared by the Holy Family ❤️
