Dear Parents and Carers
The Virtual Christmas Concert
Next week we will film our virtual concert so we will have time to have it edited and ready to watch on the night of December the 8th. You might like to plan a family get together for that night in front of the TV. A zoom link will be sent for the concert closer to the date. There will be an encore performance on the evening of December the 14th. Please see the flyer below to remind the students and families which day they need to wear their costumes. The teachers and students have worked really hard to bring their Christmas presentation to life for our community.
Changes to restrictions - Dismissal - car line back to 3pm!!
So sorry for any confusion!!
Just to clarify our dismissal. All children are dismissed from school at 3pm. In order to try and keep grades separate as per the Public Health Order the following is in place:
Carline - Kinder, Year 1 and Year 2 will be on the steps waiting. Year 3 to 6 will be inside the gate. We ask that parents who can come later (Years 3-6) come at 10 past 3 in order that all cars don't arrive at Sacred Heart at 3pm. All children will be available for pickup whatever time parents arrive.
Parent pickup - Will still happen at the back gate as usual at 3pm.
Crossing and Busline - Students will meet in the primary undercroft and be taken to the crossing and bus just after 3pm.
Thank you to our generous staff who all assist (above and beyond their duty allocation) to ensure the children’s safety. Thank you to all parents for for helping us manage our dismissal in a safe way.
The Amadeus Music Program will be launched by Sydney Catholic Schools in the next week. All schools in the Archdiocese will eventually have the program for Years 3 to 6. This will involve extra music lessons each week. As well as their music curriculum lesson with Ms Conroy the students Yr 3-6 will receive small group tuition in a musical instrument and an ensemble lesson once a week. New music tutors are currently being employed by SCS and will begin at Sacred Heart in 2022. In the meantime Ms Conroy, Mrs Jago and Mrs Luscombe are accessioning the instruments for our students in preparation to loan to each student next year. Students are completing their preference sheets at the moment regarding which instrument they will take on to study in the first year of the program.
We all love to dress up at Sacred Heart. Two days coming up soon are:
Water Safety Day - Friday 19th November. On the day when we would have had our swimming carnival the students will be taught the water safety aspects of the curriculum. They can wear sun safe clothes (with a beach flavour) to school. A hat and closed in shoes need to be worn.
Mufti Day for Year Six - Friday 26th November. Gold coin donation that goes towards the Year Six Graduation - Year Six will provide games and fun for the children on this day. Students should wear casual dress for the day, with a hat and closed in shoes.
Jingle and Mingle - Warringah Bowls 4th December
Our End of Year P and F function notices will be sent out today. Tickets will be on sale on QKR from today. This is a great chance to get together to say farewell to this year but to also commit to 2022 as a year where we can see more of each other, open the school back up and re energise and strengthen our bonds as a community.
Tickets can be bought on the QKR app.
- Tickets for the evening are $50 per head and can be purchased on the app.
- Additional tickets can be purchased if you would like to add Barefoot Bowls to the experience. These are $20 each.
- Tickets for the raffle are also available to purchase on the app.
I found this online this week and thought I’d share as the busy season creeps up on us:
“Our expression “to have time for someone” is a heart-warming one, because giving time to someone is a real gift of myself, part of our consciousness of being human. The opposite—lack of time—is expressed in another idiom “Money rich but time poor.” To be poor in time is a great deprivation, even when self-inflicted. It is all a question of perspective, values and choices. We do need to value the fleeting time we have and not live only towards a future, as yet unreal, moment. In the words of St Paul, Look, now is the acceptable time; look, now is the day of salvation! (2 Corinthians 6:2) Help me, eternal God, to accept your gift of the present moment. It is the only moment I will ever have, so let me inhabit it richly and fully, and celebrate your gift of life in abundance."
Most changes to restrictions from November the 8th do not affect schools. We have been told we will be operating at Level 3 restrictions until the end of Term 4. Please see the current advice especially the point made about keeping children home if they feel unwell. Link
Enjoy your week.
