Dear Parents and Carers,
This week is Child Protection Week. The theme for this year is “Every child in every community needs a fair go.”
Children are safest when they're listened to, respected and believed. In Child Protection week the teachers will address age appropriate content that is aimed at:
- Identify trusted adults within and outside of family.
- Listening to warning signs of their body.
- Help children develop feelings vocab by talking.
- Understand that no go tell message.
- Understand their rights over their own bodies.
Normally in week nine our students tire and teachers adjust work accordingly. As teachers can't see or hear many of their students can I please ask that parents monitor this and ensure children have breaks from work if needed.
Many thanks to the 100 plus families that attended a lockdown trivia night last Thursday night on Zoom. We had a lot of positive feedback. Thank you to the trivia team of Nick Brierley, Andre de Villiers, Natasha Roache and Ashley Blake.
Parents of students in Year 3 and Year 5 should get their children's Naplan results shortly (depending on their delivery schedule). We will arrange for you to pick them up from school when they arrive.
The results of the Tell Them from Me survey came in this term. There were many positives from the survey particularly commending the school for it's community, welcoming nature, pastoral care and the dedicated teachers who are so caring and responsive to the children’s needs.
One challenge for the school that the respondents named was to review the timing and frequency of communication regarding academic progress. Thank you for that feedback. We will review our reporting schedule for 2022 over the next term.
On Thursday mornings we are lucky enough to be able to have a Zoom mass with father Phil and our priests. Last week Year four celebrated a beautiful mass with Father Phil over Zoom and this week Year five will have mass on Thursday morning at 9:15. Many thanks to our wonderful priests and staff for their help and support to ensure our students have access to the Eucharist.
Some of the learning the students and teachers will have to look forward to are:

Do you know how the people in your world are really going? Life's ups and downs happen to all of us. So chances are someone you know might be struggling. Your genuine support can make a difference whatever they are facing, big or small. So, don’t wait until someone’s visibly distressed or in crisis. Make a moment meaningful and ask them how they’re really going. Are they really OK? Ask them today. Your conversation could change a life. |
Dear SCECS families,
Just another friendly reminder from the Department; We empathise with everyone and understand how stressful these unprecedented times are, but are wanting to make sure our bookings for Vacation Care are accurate so that we can be staffed accordingly. To be in line with NSW Public Health orders, we want to ensure we are adhering to this for the service and our local community. Our service is open for all who need it. Please see below.
On 20 August, NSW Government issued advice for families, the community and the ECEC sector as follows:
There have been a significant number of cases in Early Childhood Education and Care Services, so parents and carers across the state are strongly encouraged to keep their children at home, unless they need to be at those services.
Please refer to the health advice at: https://www.health.nsw.gov.au/Infectious/covid-19/Pages/ECEC-advice.aspx.
Please contact us to discuss your needs for care so that we can staff our service appropriately.
If you cannot care for your child at home, we also remind you not to bring your child if they have any symptom of being unwell. We also ask that you do not bring your child if you or anyone else in your household has any symptom of being unwell.
The health, safety and wellbeing of children, families, staff and community is most important at this time. We will continue to provide updated information as we receive it from NSW Health.
The Department has prepared a range of helpful resources for families to support continued learning from home.
Thank you for your ongoing support. Please stay safe and well.
Warm regards,
--
