Dear Sacred Heart families
With our Father’s Day celebrations this week it feels like we are able to mark off some of the celebratory milestones of the year. It is remarkable how inventive many people are getting with virtual parties, meetings and family gatherings. We wish all of our fathers and father figures all the best for this weekend and we extend an invitation to attend our Friday Zoom assembly with your child/ren. Please see this week’s Heartfelt addition as it has many resources and sources of inspiration for our dads. Return to School Plan
Our teachers were very excited to hear we will be returning to school next term. It's not as soon as we would like but at least we have a clear pathway to follow. We have an enormous checklist to go through to ensure we transition our staff, our infants children and our primary students back to school. Some of our planning will include but is not limited to:
- Managing online learning for the first four weeks of school
- Managing the staggered return of students to school while managing online learning at the same time
- Planning for what our end of year report will look like
- Managing the wellbeing of students as they transition back to school
- Planning for assessment of students learning when back at school
- Setting of new goals for students for the end of 2021
- Supporting our Year Six as they begin to transition to high school
- Engaging our parents in school life again - given the restrictions that may apply
- Considering what Orientation for Kinder 2022 will look like
- Celebrating the 2021 school year with the appropriate ceremonies, masses and celebrations
- Ensuring all staff that will work on site are vaccinated and compliant
- Understanding and communicating the restrictions that may be placed on school sites as we transition back to school and responding flexibly to any changes that happen throughout the term.
Some of the learning that the students and teachers will have to look forward to are:
Term 3
Weekly grade Zoom masses - Year 4 this week
Term 4
Week 1 - Pupil Free Day - Staff Professional Devlopment
Week 2 - Science Week (Virtual)
Week 5 - Book Week (get your costumes ready!)
Week 7 - Water safety Day
Week 10 - Christmas Carols - Virtual
Our Lockdown Trivia will be held tomorrow evening. Registrations will close at 9am tomorrow morning and participants will be sent an answer sheet that they can use for the evening. The link is in the school calendar and the password is trivia. It should be fun!
A reminder that students will return to school in summer uniform. It might be good to hunt them out soon and check if the children have grown! Orders from Cowan and Lewis are still being received at school for pickup.
Enjoy your week.
Regards
Julie Caldwell
