Dear Sacred Heart families,
Lockdown 2021 - Week 3
You may have heard the advice from NSWHealth that the lockdown has been extended for another four weeks. While this is difficult for us all, we might have to look at it optimistically and hope that this achieves the desired result so we can go back to some normality at the end of it.
Some things to remember over the next few weeks:
- Relationships with family are the most important priority at the moment - don't make school work a battleground
- School work can be modified at home … reading (anything!), maths (board games?) and writing (get kids to email their teachers, Mrs Caldwell, their grandparents and let us know how lockdown is for them)
- Teachers are great at catching kids up - we’ve done it before, we can do it again
- Teachers will be working from home so email communication is best for contact
- There is a very reduced staffing level at school so any requests may take a little longer than usual
Update from Sydney Catholic Schools - Recorded K-2 session
Tony Farley, our Executive Director, held a Q and A session last Friday evening. It was aimed at Kinder to Year 2 parents and had some good tips and explanations about supporting Kinder to Year 2 with home learning. The recording is worth having a look at. It will set many parents minds at rest as to what can help support them at this time from Sydney Catholic Schools perspective. Please use this link to find the recorded conversation Facebook page.
Our Zoom assembly on Monday featured prayers for all the beautiful grandparents out there who love and support their grandchildren. Thank you to the grandparents who also participated in the Zoom. I hope you can join us for our Friday Zoom.
In Heartfelt you will find an invitation from Mary Lozina, our Family Educator to the Alpha series. It will be a Zoom meeting first off. I highly recommend it to anyone interested.
Enjoy your week
Regards
Julie Caldwell
Grandparents and Special Friends Day
Wishing a happy ‘Grandparents and Special Friends Day’ to grandparents, grandfriends and family friends in our Sacred Heart Community. Thank you to those in the
community who were able to join us for our ‘Grandparents and Special Friends Prayer’ on Monday morning. Pope Francis announced the 25th of July as the first World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly. Please see an address from Pope Francis himself to reflect on this special occasion.
Dear Lord,
We treasure our wonderful Grandparents
and special family friends.
We thank you for their presence in our lives.
We ask that you watch over them
and lead them into hope and blessing.
Protect them and hold them when life is hard.
May they always remember how deeply loved they are.
We ask this through Christ our Lord,
Amen.
100 Days of Kindergarten
Congratulations to our Kinder students who reached their 100th day of Kindergarten last Friday! A sincere thank you to the Kinder parents, students and families who were able to join us via zoom for our ‘100 days Prayer’.
Father, we ask you to bless our Kindergarten students.
Keep them safe, keep them happy
and always be beside them to nurture them and watch them grow
into beautiful young people.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
